The NW varsity volleyball team hosted their home opener tonight against the Adrian Maples, 8.26.26. It was great back-and-forth volleyball until the final points in set five. The Lady Mounties started off strong winning the first set 25-22. The Maples battled back to win the second 25-18. The momentum shifted back in the Mounties favor in the third set with a close win 25-23. The Mounties were in the lead for most of the fourth set until Adrian came from behind to win the set 25-21. It came down the the deciding set and unfortunately, the Mounties came up short with a score 11 to 15. Leading the Mounties on the night offensively were Kyley Gardner with seven kills, Shannon Christner with five, Izzy Gibson with five and Malena Herrara with five. Leading the Mounties defensively was Adalyn Mack with 21 digs. MiKenze Pitchford chipped in with 13 digs. But player of the game goes to Senior Cloe Brewster who played a well rounded game with 21 service points 12 digs, and four kills. Next up, NWVB travels to Olivet high school for their first Saturday tournament!
